The mission is to champion Decentralization as specified in the Local Government Act (Section 96-99).

Update:

• The AIDS Control Unit is managed by the Under Secretary and has integrated HIV/AIDS in the ministry’s budget and work plan.
• Activities are being carried out in 56 districts in the country. The ministry has been recognized as a role model in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
• The Ministry, together with UAC spearheaded the exercise of reviewing district coordination guidelines
• Through the Self Coordinating Entity of Local authorities/decentralised response, the Ministry works with the Uganda Local Government Association to among other issues link national and district responses
