Zero Discrimination

Everyone has a Right to Safe Medical Services, Employment, and Social Inclusion

In the advent of the recent case where an HIV positive nurse is accused of inappropriate medical conduct, the Uganda AIDS Commission would like to reassure Ugandans of  Government’s resolve to monitor and ensure that everyone has access to safe medical services.

The AIDS Commission also reaffirms that regardless of one’s HIV status, everybody has a right to gainful employment, respect and social inclusion. Discrimination of HIV infected people violates basic human rights. This is in line with one of United Nations’ shared vision which calls for 'Zero Discrimination'.

This message was delivered by the Chairman, Uganda AIDS Commission, Prof. Vinand Nantulya to News Editors, and HIV Practitioners at Serena Hotel on February 18th, 2014. The Chairman, further appealed to leaders in the media industry to make sure that individual rights are upheld in the interest of our common good as a nation.  He also requested media  to ensure that messages to the public are accurate and positive.
