Ministry of Gender Labour, Gender and Social Development (MOGLSD):

HIV/AIDS is recognized as a health as well as a major socioeconomic issue. The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MoGLSD) mandate captures most socioeconomic issues of the general population with specific focus on the various population groups including orphans, women, young people, the disabled, the workers especially in the business and informal sectors etc.

The Ministry AIDS Control Programme was established in the mid 1990s to spearhead efforts of this sector to respond to HIV/AIDS. The Ministry is a lead sector in various areas including provision of psychosocial support to the infected and affected, care for the orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), addressing HIV/AIDS in the workplace etc.

MoGLSD has for example spearhead action in the development of the OVC Policy and Strategic Plan , the Policy on AIDS in the World of Work and an HIV/AIDS mainstreaming guideline in the sector.

Recent updates from the sector were also shared during the Joint AIDS Review 2005 workshop
